What is Monaka?
Crisp rice-flour wafers sandwiching sweet bean paste. Wafers are often molded into shapes, which makes monaka a popular souvenir.
It is made mainly from glutinous rice wafer, azuki beans and sugar. You may also see it called “wafer sandwich”.
